Must You Love Your Relatives?

This week’s topic is one that I’ve gotten in trouble with by my family quite often. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told that I have to love and/or like someone because they are a family member.

Now I’ll admit, I do love all of my family members, but I don’t like quite a few. Why should I like a drug addict that robs my home, why should I like a child abuser, why should I like someone so miserable they try to bring everyone else down with them? I’m sorry, but I’m not the one.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want any harm to come to anyone. As a matter of fact, I pray they straighten out their lives and have even tried to lend a helping hand. But I’m only human. I can’t make myself like people who aren’t too likeable in my opinion.
